Meet the Principal

Headshot of Principal Jamar Humphrey

Mr. Jamar Humphrey

Mr. Humphrey began his career with Ann Arbor Public Schools in 2008 as a student teacher at Dicken Elementary. After completing his internship and graduating from Eastern Michigan University, he joined the staff at Bach Elementary, where he taught 2nd and 3rd grade for several years and served as a lead teacher. During his time in the classroom, he also supported students through the Summer Learning Institute each summer.

In 2017, he began his administrative career as Assistant Principal at Martin Luther King Elementary. A year later, he joined the Bryant/Pattengill community as Associate Principal, and in 2019, became Principal of Bryant Elementary.

He is proud to have served the Bryant/Pattengill community for nearly a decade. He deeply values the community’s rich diversity, dedicated and caring staff, supportive families, and inquisitive young learners who are growing into future leaders. He is especially grateful for the strong partnerships with families that help make Bryant/Pattengill a welcoming and connected school community.

For Mr. Humphrey, leadership has always started with relationships. His years working alongside students, families, and educators have shaped his belief that people do their best when they feel connected, valued, and supported. He works to ensure that students feel known, families feel welcomed, and staff feel appreciated and empowered.

A “whatever it takes” approach for each child, every day is at the heart of his leadership. He is committed to continually finding ways to strengthen teaching, learning, relationships, and the school community he is honored to lead.
